Five Spanish organizations where Spanish Speaking is a code of conduct March 8, 2011

The Spanish language is the fourth most spoken language in the world. Despite this massive influence Spain’s history of colonization left the world, many of its people such as Latinos and Mexicans suffer discrimination and belong to third world countries, therefore, a minority in first world countries such as America.

Because of this painful fact, many support groups have been formed that eventually blossomed into big Spanish organizations to help these people excel in every aspect despite their condition. The following are five of the many non-profit organizations that do just that. They may slightly differ in mission but have but one commonality, the Spanish language. All of the organizations mentioned below encourage keeping their beloved language alive.

The Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations

It was founded on 1962 in Philadelphia thus making it the oldest Latin organization there. In a nutshell, they make sure that the Latino community in Philadelphia gets unbiased services such as education and career opportunities as well as cultural and social programs are made available.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU)

This association started with 18 founding institutions in 1986. To this day, HACU stands for over 450 universities with the goal of empowering the Hispanic youth to maximize their skills and capabilities to make the globally competent. They believe that the success of the society and economy of a nation rely greatly on the Hispanic community.

National Latino Children’s Institute (NLCI)

To mold a person, the best way to start is through one’s childhood. Providing a healthy environment for a child to grow, to be provided with equal rites and to be protected by the sate are few of the key factors to achieve this. NLCI fight for the right of Latino children born in the America to have the same amount of protection and respect received by any other American citizen.

Hispanic Women’s Corporation (HWC)

In a man’s world, women in general need to turn to each other for support. HWC discovered that Latinas have different concerns as compared to other races. They create support groups, seminars and the like for women to be empowered and to understand how, why and the solution of the struggles or concerns they experience.

National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ)

This organization is dedicated to build up the Hispanic population who excel in the news industry. Basically it’s supporting them in their craft and encouraging them and even amateur writers to leave a mark in the media industry.

All these and many other organizations keep the Spanish language and the Spanish people alive.  Proof that there is hope to bring back the greatness of the Hispanics.
